Metropolis Studios would like to congratulate Mastering Engineer Stuart Hawkes and Studio Engineer Liam Nolan for their success in the 57th Grammy Awards.
Mastering Engineer Stuart Hawkes received praise for his contributions to Sam Smith’s international best selling debut and now Grammy Award Winning (Best Pop Vocal Album) album In the Lonely Hour.
Sam Smith also took three further awards including the prestigious ‘Record of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year’ for the smash hit single Stay with Me and the award for ‘Best New Artist’.

In addition to a UK number one credit in 2014 for his work on the smash hit single Rather Be (recorded at Metropolis Studios), Metropolis Studio Engineer Liam Nolan’s work with Clean Bandit was further rewarded as the group won ‘Best Dance Recording’ for the same track.

Stuart has been in audio mastering for over 25 years, and the skills and knowledge he’s learned in that time puts him in great demand from many music producers, recording artists and record labels from around the world. This Grammy nomination caps an exceptional year for Stuart, whose work with record breaker Ed Sheeran saw him achieve a UK number one album credit for a total of 11 weeks since it’s initial release in June 2014.
Stuart can also claim mastering credits for a host of artists including Ed Sheeran, Amy Winehouse, Rudimental, Example, Disclosure, Jessie Ware, Katy B and many more!
